Wow! Talk about a dose of reality! Today is Friday the thirteenth, I turn 68 years old today, and I’m trying to get a bio done for our 50th HS Reunion. My goodness! How did this happen? We went to our 40th and had a blast! I can’t tell you how fast those ten years went.
I want to thank the Reunion crew for all their hard work in putting this together for us. Also, for the web page and especially the Memorium. To see the names, to see the faces, and to read the obituaries is heartbreaking. I remember a lot of them — some were very good friends of mine — some were at our 40th HS Reunion. They will never be forgotten. We are truly blessed to be able to gather and celebrate our 50th.
After HS I went to RCC for one year for Criminal Justice and carpooled with my good friend Matt Estevez and we played baseball there for one year. I never went back for a second year. I was working on the docks of a trucking company in Secaucus, NJ for a couple of years and just hanging out. In late ’79 I needed/wanted a change. I wanted to be physically and mentally challenged, leave the area, and seek adventure. So, I enlisted in the US Army, best decision I ever made! I got everything I was looking for and then some. Did a lot of cool things, met a lot of great people from practically every state and from every walk of life. I was stationed at FT Bliss, TX, South Korea, FT Bragg, NC, Peoria, Ill. (US Army Recruiter) back to South Korea, back to FT Bragg and finally FT Carson, CO. One of my proudest accomplishments was serving our country and earning and being awarded the coveted Master Parachute Badge as a Jumpmaster in the 82nd Airborne Division, FT Bragg NC, Americas Guard of Honor.
After twenty years in the military, I retired and then got a job with the US Post Office as a mail handler working on the loading docks in Colorado Springs for twenty plus years. After forty plus years I retired in 2021.
I play ALOT of golf and I enjoy biking, walking/jogging, hiking and I watch and follow all sports. I am married to my wife Cathy (Harrisburg, PA) also a US Army veteran. We live in Colorado Springs, CO with the best dog ever, Hope. We have a daughter Jenny. She and her husband Josh, both US Army Combat Veterans, have four children and they all live in Omaha. NE.
I’m really looking forward to seeing old friends, teammates and classmates!
