WOW, 50 years gone by! I’m loving the stories of friends & their adventures in life! Who would have imagined all of the twists and turns we would live?
After TZ, I went to Creighton Univ in Omaha where I spent 8 years finishing undergrad & med school. I started my residency in pediatrics at CWRU, Cleveland, but finished at Children’s Mercy in KC so I could marry my best friend, Dave, who I met the first week of college and have now celebrated 40 years of marriage with & nearly 50 years “together”.
We started our family life in KC, Dave, HR at Hallmark Cards and me in general pediatrics. We had 4 wonderful kids who we are still blessed to see often with 7 grandkids so far! Careers took us to Chicago, St Louis (where I did a fellowship in neonatology), Minneapolis & finally Charlotte NC. I have loved the opportunity to care for NICU babies & the families and have “failed” retirement twice. But, we live on a lake and enjoy boating, swimming, golf, pickleball, yoga, and, most especially, time as “Gran-mama”. I still do some sewing and playing flute (at church) and I love to travel! With all of that, I believe I will soon succeed in retiring.
My parents passed away in 1980s so I have not been back to Orangeburg in a long time. I was so looking forward to the reunion but, due to some conflicts, I am sad not to be able attend & catch up in person. I do hope that many classmates will share their stories on this wonderful website and I thank the planning group for creating all of this!!! As we wished 50 years ago, may the road ahead be full with life’s blessings old friends…
