I live in New City, New York with my amazing wife, Wendy, a retired New York City school teacher and the current swim director at Woodmont Day Camp in New City, New York. We have four beautiful children ranging in age from 35 to 30. Brandon is a mechanical engineer, Ben is the director of Ad marketing at the New York Times, Lindsay has her doctorate degree in physical therapy from SUNY upstate and is presently a travel PT working in San Diego and Brooke is currently working for an interior decorator and is expecting her first child, and oursecond grandchild, this coming May. Our first grandchild, Avery, is 2 1⁄2 years old. Wendy and I love being grandparents to Avery. Avery is expecting a baby brother in June (our 3rd grandchild).
I have been a sole practicing attorney for the last 35 years. As the founder and principal of the Law Offices of Alden B. Smith in New City, New York, established in 1990, I maintain a general practice with a concentration in condominium and homeowner association representation, creditor’s rights and debt collection, enforcement of money judgments, commercial litigation, trusts and estates, and real estate law. In addition to my private practice, I served for 25 years as a Part-Time Court Attorney to the
judges of the Family Court of the State of New York, County of Rockland.
I began my legal career as an associate attorney at Costa & McKay, Esqs., where I practiced in a general practice law firm before establishing my own firm. I earned my Juris Doctor from the Pace University School of Law in 1983 and hold a Bachelor of Arts, double majoring in Economics and Political Science, from the State University of New York at Albany. I served as President of the Rockland County Bar Association from 2004 to 2005 and as a member of its Board of Directors for 15 years.
I am a current member and past President of the New City Rotary and have served on the Board of Trustees of the Orangetown Jewish Center.
After playing high school tennis at TZ, I continue to play tennis regularly in a USTA league, indoors from September through May at Matchpoint Tennis in Orangeburg, and outdoors the rest of the year.
